TOUR BLOG: NORFOLK

Hey Guys,

Let me start out by saying that our dressing room today had a hot tub, sauna, leather couches, giant TVs, foosball, a pool table, and a basketball court. Uh yeah. Pretty sweet.

Some of you that have been following this for a while may remember the second show we played on the Keane tour and how the dressing room was basically a mechanical room with a table in it. Ooooooh how things have changed!

Jeremy (drums), Tyler (guitar) and myself all started the day by going to lunch at this place in mall called Kincaid’s. They were advertising this pretty sweet lunch deal for $10. You got a salad and half a portion of a sandwich or salmon and a drink. It was pretty good. Except Tyler’s $10 lunch ended up turning into a $20 lunch because he mistakenly ordered the house salad instead of the side salad. This had him peeved for pretty much the rest of the day.

I spent most of the day trying to work out the kinks of this “impromptu acoustic performance in a strange location” thing that I’ve started. I wanted to shoot it in the hot tub but the guys were all a little weary of their instruments being in or around the water. I don’t get but whatever… haha.

I finally decided upon the basketball court, then asked Jeremy if he thought he could use a basketball for rhythm. Turns out he can. The ”impromptu acoustic performance in a strange location” thing turned out amazing! I can’t wait to show you guys. I don’t want to reveal too much else about it. Maybe after I post it if everyone is interested in seeing more I can post another video as kind of a “making of”. It was really interesting watching Mat and the guys rehearse and work out the kinks of performing “Closer To Love” with a tennis racket, two basketballs, and an acoustic guitar.

Also, going forward I’ve decided on a mission statement for the ”impromptu acoustic performance in a strange location” thing and a new name.

The mission statement: ”The location of the performance is not just a place where the music is performed, but that the location becomes a part of the music itself.”
The new name: “The Location is the Music” or “The LITM shows” I think… Maybe that’s dumb. I can’t decide. You decide. Send me your ideas for a name! Just use the mission statement as a jumping off point. Cool.
